Relinquish a Pet

If you need to surrender a cat, please complete our relinquishment application with as much detail as possible. Medical records can be emailed separately to our intake email to help us review your submission. Our team will respond by email, though it may take up to two weeks.

RMFR is a limited-intake shelter, and acceptance depends on available space and medical resources. There is no fee to surrender a stray cat or a cat whose medical care is already up to date. For owner surrenders, we may request a donation based on your cat's medical needs to help offset the cost of veterinary care prior to adoption.

You’re not alone in this - we’re here to help you find the best path forward for your cat.

FAQs About Surrendering

Do you euthanize?

Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue believes every cat deserves a second chance. We only euthanize when it is medically necessary and all other humane options have been exhausted. We do not euthanize cats because of space, length of stay, or behavior.
